Constructed in the Victorian style of the time, the distinctive façade of the building has been an icon of Stockport for over 150 years. The Guildhall was built in 1868 originally as a Wesleyan Sunday School named Brentnall Street School and operated for around 60 years. The Guildhall has accommodated many events over the years, including the notable occurrence of housing evacuees from Guernsey during the second world war in the summer of 1940.

A ghostly woman has been witnessed at the top of the stairs by various members of staff and guests. Reports of music playing, disembodied voices and strange shadows have all been reported. Do you dare join us for this amazing charity event?
